Towercom is hiring an experienced Lead Rigger
The Lead Rigger is responsible for carrying out site inspections, structural upgrade works & undertaking installation, repair & maintenance works on assets across Towercom’s nationwide portfolio.
The Lead Rigger has a key responsibility in ensuring the implementation of safe working practices whilst working on site & to make recommendations to maintain the integrity of the asset based upon inspections and climbdowns.
Working within the design and construction team, the role the responsible for carrying out on-site works.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertakes site and climbdown inspections and surveys for structures and rooftop sites and O&M programme activities.
- Identify issues, propose solutions, and make recommendations to ensure the safety and security of sites and structural integrity of the asset.
- Working closely with the design team to gather design information as well as determining feasibility of designs and scope/method of [rigging/installation] works, assuring the structural integrity of the mast and all assemblies is maintained at all times.
- Input to asset review discussions and meetings as part of the D&C team.
- Perform quality checks and audits on structures, buildings, and customer installations.
- Provides the Design & Delivery Manager with inputs and provides updates for job planning, including review of design drawings and attendance at pre-start meetings; provides inputs for job pricing and site works schedule.
- Responsible for delivery of on-site works: orders and calls-off necessary plant, materials, tools & equipment required to complete works; identifies/selects necessary resources to complete jobs and ensure they are managed efficiently and priority-driven.
- Arrange crane & delivery surveys, including lift and set-up plans. Liaise, agree & confirm with neighbouring property owners for any access and set up areas for cranes & deliveries. Traffic management plan liaisons for plant access.
- Responsible for delivery of allocated site works to ensure completed in accordance with company standards and, where relevant, to client specifications.
- Responsible for ensuring the integrity of the asset and carrying out ongoing climbdown inspections, Trouble Tickets (TTs) and O&M programmes.
- Responsible for site meetings instructing crew members on the daily tasks and highlighting potential hazards and issues on the site(s).
- Ensure that the site is correctly cordoned off and all safety protocols adhered to.
- Ensure a stocked first aid kit is kept on site at all times and vehicles are equipped with fire extinguisher. Record and report all accidents and near misses and submit to the EHS Team in a timely manner.
- Call off and inspect materials (either client-supplied or purchased for purpose of the site works) to ensure that all materials are to specification and in good order and to promptly report any faults or irregularities to the relevant Manager.
- Ensure that all crew are compliant with instructions regarding PPE, use of safety equipment and correct usage of tools and equipment and follow safe working practices and site security protocols.
- Have all relevant H&S paperwork, including an updated Health and Safety Plan, available on site always and where additional hazards identified to draw up a risk assessment is completed and where necessary a method statement to cover relevant activity.
- Ensure crew members deliver to appropriate quality standards and take any corrective action which is required to address.
- Submit weekly timesheets and monthly vehicle logs, and report any damage to company vehicles, tools, or equipment.
- Responsible for ensuring that all relevant site documentation and paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Be aware of and monitor the implementation of the Company’s Safety and site works policy as well as relevant legislative regulations.
- Informing self of and implementing all company health, safety, security and environmental procedures and policies that apply in areas of responsibility and operation.
- Escalate any breaches of H&S to the Design & Construction Manager and EHS Team.
- Manage & deliver any ad hoc duties for Towercom as they arise.
Qualifications/Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years relevant PICW experience working at height with steel.
- All relevant H&S accreditation and certification (Safepass, Climbing & Rescue, dumper, MEWP, rope hauling etc.) Additional training to be provided.
- Rope access training is an advantage.
- Full clean driver’s licence; B + BE essential.
- Previous telecoms experience upgrading, maintaining and erecting monopole, stayed & freestanding lattice towers is an advantage.
- Experience of managing site-based teams in a safety-driven environment.
- Job organisation and planning skills.
- IT proficiency – specifically MS Office, Outlook, online access/site works portal
- Strong communicator with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Executes work to the highest standards.
- Must takes ownership for tasks and responsibilities.
- Ensure strong emphasis on H&S culture on-site.
- Able to operate in an energetic and progressive organisation.
- Proficient in managing site-based team and able to manage teams to optimum performance.
- Focused on getting it right first time, close attention to detail and adaptable to client needs.
- Highly self-motivated and demonstrates drive to deliver projects and results.
- Able to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure.
